Nonkilling Day June 28, 2025

It is an honourable coincidence that the pioneers of the Center for Global Nonkilling have chosen June 28th as Nonkilling Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Professor Glenn D. Paige.

Image for 'Global Colloquium' 2021.

I mentioned this coincidence on 1 July 2021 in my remote presentation 'Nonkilling Message at Global Colloquium'. I regret not personally participating at this years 'Webinar on Nonkilling Day', but I sent the poem below which was read for me.

June 28 coincides with the day that 7,000 of my Russian ancestors, the Doukhobors, burned their guns in the Caucasus on midnight June 28-29, 1895 (Old Style; New Style July 11-12).

Their goal (which Dr.Glenn D. Paige, founder, would have obviously embraced) was a plea to get rid of all wars once and for all and get on with the task of living together in harmony on Planet Earth.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Spirit,

Today we are living in a very dangerous world of lethal weapons and barbarians who threaten the lives of all of us — young and old, women and men, and people of all colours, rich and poor.

As responsible peacemakers carrying the peace day message, we must urgently speak from the rooftops large and small:
Save us from the scourge of wars
Save us from the stupidity of our times
Save us from lies of corporate oligarchs seeking wealth
from the killing fields of perpetual wars.
What folly from the new barbarians!

It's time to Stop this wholesale murder.
It's time to replace soldiers of war with genuine Peacemakers.
Save us from murderous bloody hands
Save us from sick greedy minds
who refuse to see the danger we face
in being burned alive as in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Stop. Look. Listen. The time is now…
Prevent the danger that awaits us if we don't.
What is the meaning of ‘A Global Nonkilling Day?’
Listen dear friends brothers and sisters –
Stop NATO. Stop regime change.
Treat nations with respect. No more wars.!
Diplomacy and Peace have a future,
Yes, it is time to speak up.
Tell the world: War is a crime against humanity.
Tell them – NO MORE WARS!
Brothers and Sisters, make Peace matter on June 28th and give us hope for the future.

In search of truth and a nonkilling world,
Koozma

Yes, Koozma, will society ever display the maturity that our ancestors displayed in 1895?

    Hello Koozma Ivanovic!

I am glad to know that the Center for Global Nonkilling in Hawaii have chosen June 28th as the official Day of Nonkilling and that it coincides with the day that 7,000 of Russian Doukhobors burned their guns in
    1895.
Our Creator is the Great Master of coincidences.
When I read the article and the poem I thought that people for many centuries considered the possibility of people to fly incredible, but now we have been flying for a long time and calmly. Many people considered space exploration impossible, but Russian philosopher Nikolai Fedorov dreamed of it. His ideas inspired Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, then the constructor of the first spaceship Sergei Korolev, and then Yuri Gagarin flew into space...
The idea of a nonkilling world seems to many now as incredible as the space exploration in 19 century. Glory to the people who by their example confirm that the impossible is possible, and by active initiatives create a global movement towards a peaceful era, towards a world without killing. This will be the era of the conquest of the spiritual spaces. As for me, I believe in it.

    Thanks Koozma,
It is interesting how incredibly obvious and simple the act of "get(ting) rid of all wars once and for all and get(ting) on with the task of living together on Planet Earth" appears to be, and yet how complex it has turned out to be. Very puzzling at times.

    Hi, Koozma,
It was surprising to hear from you.
I must say I take exception to the name "Nonkilling Day".
Perhaps a gentler word could have been chosen.

  10. Nonkilling is a legitimate concept which incorporates respect, nonviolent conflict resolution through diplomatic negotiation, and love. Please write to Dr. Leslie E. Sponsel, for a summary of the arguments pro and con regarding nonkilling for his current class in the anthropology of war and peace .
