1945 A-bombing of Japan Memorials

'The United States detonated two nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945, respectively, with the consent of the United Kingdom, as required by the Quebec Agreement [held August 1943 in Canada].

The two bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of whom were civilians, and remain the only use of nuclear weapons in armed conflict.' (Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Wikipedia, accessed August 10, 2019.)

The annual Ottawa event has been announced with different titles. The most recent iteration beginning in 2022 is: 'Hiroshima & Nagasaki Peace Memorial Lantern Ceremony'. The Japanese term is: Tōrō nagashi.

This is a chronological list of my photo stories documenting the annual memorials held in Ottawa, Canada, since 2009.
